British Music Hall Society

Branding & Web Design

Background:

The British Music Hall, with its rich history and cherished heritage, approached us with a unique challenge. They had a basic website that didn’t capture the essence of their iconic establishment. Their logo, dating back to a bygone era, needed a modern update. Armed with a leaflet showcasing their preferred colors and style, as well as a historic book laden with their heritage, we embarked on a journey to transform the British Music Hall’s online presence and breathe life into their brand.

Challenges:

  1. Reimagining the British Music Hall’s brand while preserving its cherished history.
  2. Designing a logo that retained a vintage steampunk feel while introducing a touch of modernity.
  3. Crafting a website that reflected the theater’s rich heritage, with vibrant and appealing visuals.
  4. Ensuring that the core values of the British Music Hall, rooted in history and nostalgia, were effectively conveyed.
Our Approach: We approached this project with reverence for the British Music Hall’s history and an understanding of the need to blend nostalgia with modernity. Here’s how we addressed the challenge:
  1. Logo Redesign: Drawing Inspiration from History and Nostalgia: We began the logo redesign by sketching it by hand, drawing inspiration from the historic book’s illustrations and elements from the steampunk era. After hand-drawing, the logo was meticulously traced over in Adobe Illustrator, where fine details were added to ensure that it maintained a vintage steampunk vibe.
  2. Typography: Elevating the Logo: Typography played a pivotal role in the logo’s design. It involved choosing and customizing fonts that resonated with the steampunk aesthetic while ensuring readability and vibrancy.
  3. Website Transformation: The website redesign was a delicate balance of history and modernity. Designed on Adobe XD, it incorporated visual elements inspired by the historic book and leaflet preferences, infusing the site with the colors and style they loved. The website was then developed on WordPress using PHP, creating a seamless and user-friendly experience.
  4. Heritage Emphasis: Recognizing the importance of their heritage, we featured captivating stories and imagery from the historic book throughout the website. This not only honored their legacy but also engaged visitors with the Music Hall’s fascinating history.
Results: The transformation of the British Music Hall’s brand and digital presence led to remarkable outcomes:
  • Enhanced Brand Identity: The steampunk-inspired logo and the vintage-modern website breathed new life into their brand. The old-fashioned became chic, and history met modernity.
  • Positive Feedback: The British Music Hall received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with many acknowledging the successful fusion of nostalgia and contemporary appeal.
Conclusion: Our partnership with the British Music Hall was a journey into history, nostalgia, and modernity. Through steampunk-inspired branding and a vintage-modern website, we managed to capture the core values of the theater while bringing their brand to life with vibrance.
